Making Sense of the Holidays

Sleigh bells ring, are you listening?
Chestnuts roasting on an open fire…
I’m dreaming of a white Christmas.
Rockin’ around the Christmas tree.

Silver bells, laughter, HoHoHo’s, chatter, glasses clinking with holiday cheer.
It’s all part of the big picture, “the sense of the holidays”. Not just sounds… but tastes, smells, sights, feelings and visions.

Listen, touch, dream, smell, move, see. Take it all in.

It’s the holiday season!

“Bah Humbug”
This time of year may seem hectic, stressful, crazy and out of control at times.
“What’s there to be merry about anyway?”

Well, dear ones, in order to make sense of it all, we have to use OUR senses!

Listen – to the music (see my mini playlist below), laughter, giggling and Santa’s HoHoHo’s
Feel – the chill in the air, snow, coziness of flannel jammies, slippers, the warmth of a loved one’s hug
Taste – the sweetness of holiday goodies, special dinners, snowflakes on your tongue, cider and nogs
Smell – the firewood burning, food cooking, cider mulling, and the waft of evergreen
See – the winter landscape outside your window or on a Christmas card, the joy on kids’ faces, your favorite holiday movie
Imagine – good childhood holiday memories, love and fun at family and friends’ gatherings, and what wondrous things are in store for you in 2016.

Take a breath. Savor it. Be in it. Experience, fully, the Sense of the Holidays.Snowmen
Use all of YOUR senses, to drink in the best things about this time of year.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Wishing you wonderful holidays filled with all the sights, sounds, feelings, tastes, smells and dreams you hold dear.
See you next year!

Choose to have a great week!
